about

This is the first of hopefully many more albums that I will post to Bandcamp. I have titled it Sonic Landscapes, a project that I have had in mind for some time now, due to my desire to explore sonic pallets that are not usually seen in most modern “high “quality studio-recorded music.
Most modern pieces of music battle exterior sounds and refuse to share a spot light with it. Yet I decided to make a work that would have to seriously interact with its background so that each piece is, in a way, dependent on these background noises.
Although it is great to hear music in a pristine concert hall or listen to a perfectly recorded studio album, I strongly believe that music does not occur in a bubble. Music very much interacts with us on a physical and emotional level and we do it a disservice by attempting to determine which sounds are considered worthy to be deemed “music,” while judging harshly and abhorring the murmurs of people, the pitches that emanate from a fork hitting a plate, the many different impromptu notes that can come from a creaking bench… These sounds are vital to this music, and should be explored to make our current music more vibrant and interesting.
The highly dogmatic standard for what is music also holds us back from experimenting and realizing that music is something we all make to enjoy and express ourselves.
This is the main reason why I made these collections of impromptus. The form itself allowed me to play without having to worry about thinking too much and just enjoying the music in a semi lucid transcendental state.
Music has always been isolated. Seen as something that must be perfected and judged harshly if it does not meet current “standards”. Yet I wish to challenge those conventions and say with my unperfected and noisy recordings that music is what you will it to be, and I will it to be this.
